Our Weekend (April 25-27)

We had another good but busy weekend.  We stayed out way too late every night.  Well, late for us.  Perfect timing though.  Ellen has recently started using the "but it's the weekend" argument in an attempt to stay up past her bedtime.  She finally got her wish!

Friday was Spring Fling at Heritage.  Ellen and I practically closed the place down.  Phillip sent me a text asking if I was coming home that night (he and Lilly left around 7:30) - ha!

Saturday was gymnastics followed by housework/playtime, dinner at NY Pie and shopping at Nashville West (Phillip and Lilly hit the playground while Ellen and I went in a few stores).

Laurie came over Sunday after church and watched the girls while Phillip and I went to lunch at First Watch and did a little more shopping in Cool Springs (summer clothes for Ellen).  We brought home glazed kreme-filled doughnuts from Krispy Kreme, Phillip's favorite, only there was no kreme inside the doughnuts.  Where's the beef?  And last but not least we had a Lads to Leaders recap program, dinner included, following evening worship.  We enjoyed watching the different age groups perform their puppet shows.  The BBQ was good too :)

Sunday afternoon storm watch

We had rain, thunder and lightning Sunday night (Ellen was scared) and heavy rain and winds on Monday.  School ended up closing 2 hours early due to the predicted storms/possible tornadoes.  Thankfully we didn't have much activity in our area.

-------------------------

Only two more days until we get to do it all again (hopefully without the threat of bad weather this time).  I am always ready for the weekend!

An involuntary cleanse and other tidbits

I have finally rebounded from a stomach virus that plagued me for more than a week earlier this month.  I was in rough shape and it has taken a while for my system to recover.  (I did not leave the country nor did I partake of any exotic cuisine but I sure felt like I was suffering from some sort of Montezuma's Revenge.)  Phillip did a great job taking care of things while I was down and out - he's the best!

Me:  Instead of you coming out the regular way the doctor had to cut open my stomach...
Ellen:  What's the regular way?
Me:  You don't want to know
Phillip:  You'll learn about it at school

I recently started playing Candy Crush.  Save me.

Haven't heard this one in a long time...
Co-worker #1: What's up?
Co-worker #2:  The ceiling
It's probably worth noting that co-worker #2 is 18 years old (boss's daughter).

Ellen likes to ask Siri silly questions only she calls her Surrey (we gave up trying to correct her).  The whole thing is pretty funny except Siri/Surrey doesn't understand a thing Ellen is saying (I guess that's part of what makes it so funny).  I love my Ellen :)

Phillip's raise, which went into effect about 6 weeks ago, came with a title change.  He is now a Senior EDI Specialist.  We are so proud!

I don't want to jinx it but life seems to be getting easier now that Lilly is older and wiser and more self-sufficient (she started going to bed on her own this week!)  She is still into the same things - reading, coloring, counting (she stops at 12 and always skips 8), playing outside, hoarding pacifiers, Polly Pocket, singing, helping around the house, watching Sesame Street clips on YouTube, wanting two of everything (started when she upgraded to two gummy vitamins a day), shaking her head yes and no, saying please and thank you (miss manners), Ms. Barbara (she yells out Barbara! every time we pull up to the church), FaceTiming with family, the color yellow, talking on the phone for pretend (Hello?), peeling the stickers off of toys (very frustrating), watching TV with Ellen, chicken nuggets - but she is a little girl now.  A little girl with a BIG personality.  She is my happy.

Phillip suggested we find a show to watch together again (we usually go our separate ways after the girls go to bed) but little did I know it would be Chrisley Knows Best on USA :)  Someone at work told him about it and the rest is history.  (Why didn't anyone tell me Tori Spelling had a new reality show?!  I need to know these things!)

After several years of dealing with the ants, March 17th marks the first sighting of 2014, we decided to call an exterminator our new handyman friend recommended.  Best decision ever.  I am still on high alert but I don't hate being in my own house (as much) which is a very good thing!

Easter Weekend 2014

We had a great weekend (we spent both Saturday and Sunday at the Moss's so of course it was great!)  I was off with the girls on Friday so three out of the four of us had a long weekend (sorry Phillip).

Chick-fil-A on Good Friday

Everyone's a winner!
Peeling potatoes for hashbrowns
Dyeing eggs with Cole and Savannah

Our hostess with the mostest
Lilly joined in the fun after a little nap.  She literally dropped the eggs in the dye :)
I don't have any pictures of just the two of them but Cole and Lilly were so cute together!

She likes to stir

Easter egg hunt (they have the best yard for it!)

Ready, steady...
Go!
Lilly didn't get the memo :)

We hid the dyed eggs and a few money eggs (just quarters) to make things interesting

Hi Matt!
The trampoline was a big hit with my girls (didn't get any pictures of them jumping though)
Lilly playing with Willie and Bella
Easter morning surprise...
Ellen wanted her and Lilly to wear their matching cherry dresses to church on Sunday ($4.95 each at H&M!)
Cleaning the deck furniture while lunch was being prepared (we ate on the screened in porch)
We had steak, chicken, salad, pasta salad, steamed broccoli, spinach dip & chips and raspberry lemonade
Speaking of steaks...
Those things were huge!
More Easter egg hunting

Ellen borrowed one of Savannah's bathing suits and the girls had a blast playing in the water

In addition to all of this, we got to FaceTime with Andrea, Caleb and the kids, I watched a little Arrested Development, had a big breakfast Saturday morning (and made chili for dinner), played outside, Phillip mowed the grass (the girls and I pulled weeds), went to Kroger at least 4 times, did several loads of laundry and did a little [non-Kroger] shopping.

One of our best Easters yet!
