The Peanut Incident

I called Phillip last night on my way home from work. He says we don't have to worry about Ellen being allergic to peanuts... here is kind of a short version of the story... he discovered Ellen had a peanut tucked in her cheek as they were leaving daycare yesterday. He was putting her in her carseat and noticed she had something in her mouth but thought maybe it was the remains of a Gerber puff. Phillip said it looked like it had been there for a while. So he called daycare and talked to the director to let them know that somehow she had gotten a peanut. (He was in the parking lot when he discovered Ellen's "snack" but he was kind of upset so he didn't go back inside-didn't want to cause a scene.  We are not scene causers- especially not Phillip! But I know what he means).  Bad thoughts flashed through his mind... he was worried that she could have choked on it and since we are following the pediatrician's guidelines (and using common sense), she has not had peanut butter or anything with nuts due to the possible allergy (and she has never had anything that small and hard in her mouth. She's only 8 months!) Anyway, Ellen's teacher called Phillip today and she was really upset... she didn't want us to think she didn't take care of Ellen. She is great with Ellen. We don't question that at all!  She keeps her room VERY clean.  It is now water under the bridge.  Everything is fine... Happy Ending! So that is an abbreviated version of the peanut incident. I am just glad she had no signs of being allergic to peanuts because I LOVE peanut butter and nuts! When I find out someone is allergic to peanuts, it makes me very sad for them.

Sunday School 5/18/2008

Carson and Ellen sharing a few special moments.  Already a ladies man... he had his arm around her!  It was too cute!

The Shrinking Chair

Where is my little girl?!  I can't believe how much she has changed since the first few days and weeks of her life.  It is amazing.  The second picture was taken just this morning.

School is Cool

Ellen at daycare.  It is so hard leaving her, but she is in good hands.

At the Zoo

Phillip and Ellen went to the zoo today with Matt, Sara Jo, Cole and Savannah.  I had to work (boo hiss).  I hated to miss it!  This was Ellen's 2nd time at the Zoo with the Moss Family.  Phillip and Ellen rode the carousel... she seemed to like it.  (Thanks for taking the picture Matt!)  Phillip didn't take any pictures, much to my disappointment.  After the adventure, and once I was released from work, we all hung out together.

I like drinking water from my sippy cup!

A match made in heaven?

Eight Months Old TODAY!

Sitting on Phillip's stomach - checking out her basket of toys

Picking up Pooh (very soft!) - a gift from David and Crystal

I'm not crawling yet, but I can lift up pretty high

My first biter biscuit--yummy

Ellen seemed to like her Gerber biter biscuit.  It wasn't as messy as we thought, but we did unsnap her sleeper just in case.  The bath was already needed... but the brown goo confirmed it was a good time to go ahead and get her cleaned up.

Bad Luck

Well, Phillip's bad luck has finally found it's way to me.  Auntie Anne's (GH Mall location) no longer offers its savory jalapeno pretzel during the week..."come back on the weekend" is what I was told.  Well, I don't work in Green Hills on the weekend!!!  Apparently it isn't very popular so they don't make them during slower times, like convenient times for me.  This has happened to Phillip a lot over the years... certain favorite TV dinners discontinued (some from several brands...Lean Cuisine, Healthy Choice, Michelina's), his favorite Krispy Kreme donut (which he didn't really eat very often, but was saddened none the less), several TV shows, etc.  There are several more food items but I can't think of them now.  The pretzel thing just caught me off guard.  I didn't eat one every day or even every week, but I did really like them.  So if you are ever in Green Hills and need a snack, don't get your heart set on a jalapeno pretzel... unless it happens to be a Saturday or Sunday (said with sarcasm).
