There and Back: A Post-Vacation Update

We spent last week in Seabrook Island, SC with my family (same house as last year) so this week has been all about catching up, working, recovering, paying bills, not sleeping (thanks to Lilly and Lucy), getting ready for school (including trying to make childcare arrangments for Ellen the week school starts), yardwork, cleaning toilets and dealing with cranky children.

I took a lot of pictures but only a small percentage are worth sharing.  Here are some that made the cut.

-------------------------

Gymnastics:  Ellen was promoted from Pre-Rec (3-5 year olds) to Girl's Rec (6-10? year olds).  She went from being the oldest in her class to being one of the youngest.  She is thrilled (and oh so proud) to be in girl's rec (she cried the night before her first class, which was last Saturday, but she had a great time and has been all smiles ever since).

Oral Hygiene:  Ellen has a dentist appointment the day before school starts - a long overdue dentist appointment.  Hope it goes well.  She has still only lost one tooth but according to Ellen, she has 6 loose teeth.  I am not so sure about that but she does have several wiggly teeth.  The tooth fairy better get ready :)

School:  The day we came back from the beach (last Friday) just happened to be the day teachers/class lists were posted at Heritage (1st-5th grade only).  Once again Ellen got a great teacher!  None of her girl friends from last year are going to be in her first grade class, not one single girl from Mrs. Fielder's class got Mrs. Gildemeister!, but I think it will be good for her to make new connections (she will know Liam, Cole and Collins but boys don't really count).  School starts Friday, August 9th (only one more week of Summer SACC).

-------------------------

Lilly had her 18 month check up Tuesday morning.  She is a growing girl.

Height:  32.5 inches (70th percentile)
Weight:  26.5 lbs (89th percentile)
Head Circumference:  almost 18 inches (28th percentile)

Only one shot this time (and a finger prick to check her iron level).  Her next well visit will be in January when she turns 2.

She is mostly wearing size 18-24 month/24 month clothes but 2T fits her pretty well (at least in summer clothes) so we are going a size up on anything new we have to buy (unless it runs way big) hoping it will fit/last for a long time.

She is wearing size 5 diapers.

And this is what she likes to do...

Lilly is moving up to Shining Stars next week with Ms. Ledbetter and Ms. Firth (and thankfully our tuition is going down).  I know she is ready (or at least that is what the teachers on the baby hall are telling me) but I don't know if I am.  Quick, someone get me another baby - mine is all grown up!

-------------------------

Lucy has kennel cough.  We diagnosed her on the Internet.  I had heard of kennel cough but this is our first time experiencing it (and hopefully our last).  Lots of hacking.  So much so that she woke all four of us up around 3 a.m. Monday morning.  She is on the mend though.

My Second Home, our kennel, is strict about shots/vaccinations but somehow Lucy picked up the virus during her stay last week.  Some vacation...  George was kind of sneezy Saturday and Sunday but nothing like poor Lucy.

-------------------------

That is all I can think of for now.
