This weekend...
we watched some Olympic coverage, ate lunch with the Moss Family, gave George and Lucy a bath, successfully unclogged our kitchen sink with help from Caleb (very gross), stocked up on Pull Ups, shared a Butterfinger, enjoyed the sunshine, woke up very early on Saturday and Sunday for no reason (Ellen), read lots of books, ran the dishwasher without soap, reran the dishwasher with soap, ate dinner with Kendra and Laurie to celebrate Kendra's birthday, saw The Crazies (Phillip), did laundry, watched Snow White, made chicken and rice, contemplated running away and never coming back (Alaina), went to the grocery store and played dollhouse.

2.5, Almost
I can't believe our baby will be 2 1/2 next week!
Ellen is becoming a potty champ. She has peed in the potty atleast 3 times a day for the past few days. Although she isn't ready for panties, which we have a drawer full of, I am very pleased with her progress. She is growing up so fast!
She is a smart, busy little girl with a great memory. She knows her ABC's and recognizes letters-especially "E" and "M" for her name. She likes to "spell" out names on her easel with magnetic letters. She likes to color with crayons and markers and "write" names with a ball point pen. She helps me make our grocery lists and loves going to the grocery store. She knows where all of the good free samples are. If you tell her you are going to do something, you better do it. She keeps us honest.
She always wants a "snack" instead of a meal. She is hungry when we get home in the evening so we have to work fast to beat the dinnertime tears. I don't mind her having a small, healthy snack while we make dinner but she is so tired sometimes that there is no pleasing her. Our new routine has been a little rough on her... Phillip and I are now commuting to work so Ellen is at daycare longer and gets home about 30-40 minutes later than she used to. But she does like that we both drop her off and pick her up from school. We like it too.
I really like asking Ellen questions. She knows a lot more than what would naturally come up in conversation; she is a fountain of knowledge! We like to give her the opportunity to make decisions and choices as much as possible. Most of the time it is just simple things like Phillip letting her choose his tie or letting her pick out her clothes, but I can tell it makes her feel important when we ask her what she likes or wants. She usually takes her time when deciding between 2 or 3 different options, like she is really contemplating what is best--- just like her Aunt Andrea :)
Ellen will be transitioning to a new class soon and I think she is ready. She will rejoin some of her friends that have already moved up. I think the potty training will reach a whole new level once she is with the older 2's.
We are looking forward to spring!
