I can't deny it

Phillip: I could write a book on all the things you don't like.

(Referring to me, in case it isn't obvious.)

Yes. Yes he could.

Halloween, The Avenue, Birthday Parties and More!

Halloween night was cold and windy but Phillip and Ellen, really just Ellen*, braved the weather and went trick-or-treating in our neighborhood with The Waggoners (Lilly and I decided to sit this one out).  In order to keep her nice and warm we encouraged Ellen to dress up as a Heritage Eagles fan instead of a cat.  It was her first time going house to house, you know, real trick-or-treating :)  She came home with a ton of candy!  *I would like to point out that the adults - Phillip, Thomas and Jennifer - stayed in the van while the kids went door to door fully exposed to the elements.  You didn't go with her?!  Phillip's Father of Year status has been temporarily stripped.

We went to The Avenue in Murfreesboro on Saturday.  We walked, shopped and played (mostly played).  The girls had so much fun!  It was cold but we bundled up and kept it moving so we wouldn't get too chilled.

I caught Lilly in action... falling.  Ha!  No injuries.

Leaves!

Secretly, or not so secretly, I think Snail was happy to see us go :)

The girls and I went to Jo Jo's Frozen-themed 7th birthday party Sunday afternoon (she lives on our street).  Way too much sugar was consumed but they had a great time.

Amy Warren is Ellen's new mentor at church.  And Lilly's by default :)  She is by far the youngest mentor, it is usually a grandparent-type and Amy is younger than us, but we are so glad she was assigned to our girls.  It's a good match.

I have spent more than half of my adult life growing out my hair after a bad haircut.

Am I being overly sensitive or does your heart hurt every time you feel like one of your children was slighted by a friend, even if they don't make it a big deal?  This is a struggle for me.

Ellen got a 100 on her spelling test last week!  A step in the right direction for sure.

Lilly still likes Peppa Pig and Mickey Mouse but Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Team Umizoomi and Mike the Knight (Mike the Mike) are new favorites.

I broke down and brought a space heater to work.  I won't need it this winter (ironically) but it has been a lifesaver these past few weeks.

Lilly's take on the time change (and it being dark when we leave daycare)... The sun is going night-night early but it's okay.  Factual and reassuring all at the same time.

I want to be seven but not with lice. - Ellen, age 7

Lilly's way of communicating she needs a tissue... I have boogers.  She also announces her toots and burps.  Happily and proudly, I might add.  #classy  #shedidntlearnthatfromme

Anyone else watching The Paradise?

Ellen regarding Frozen... I'm kind of over it.

If you mention a party of any kind Lilly starts singing Happy Birthday (and usually to Daddy).

Rewind to October 24th... Savannah's Birthday Sleepover:  Pizza, Pajamas, Pampering and Pancakes.  I stayed for a couple hours Friday night to help Sara Jo and spy on Ellen :)

This one creeps me out a little
