The Peanut Incident
I called Phillip last night on my way home from work. He says we don't have to worry about Ellen being allergic to peanuts... here is kind of a short version of the story... he discovered Ellen had a peanut tucked in her cheek as they were leaving daycare yesterday. He was putting her in her carseat and noticed she had something in her mouth but thought maybe it was the remains of a Gerber puff. Phillip said it looked like it had been there for a while. So he called daycare and talked to the director to let them know that somehow she had gotten a peanut. (He was in the parking lot when he discovered Ellen's "snack" but he was kind of upset so he didn't go back inside-didn't want to cause a scene. We are not scene causers- especially not Phillip! But I know what he means). Bad thoughts flashed through his mind... he was worried that she could have choked on it and since we are following the pediatrician's guidelines (and using common sense), she has not had peanut butter or anything with nuts due to the possible allergy (and she has never had anything that small and hard in her mouth. She's only 8 months!) Anyway, Ellen's teacher called Phillip today and she was really upset... she didn't want us to think she didn't take care of Ellen. She is great with Ellen. We don't question that at all! She keeps her room VERY clean. It is now water under the bridge. Everything is fine... Happy Ending! So that is an abbreviated version of the peanut incident. I am just glad she had no signs of being allergic to peanuts because I LOVE peanut butter and nuts! When I find out someone is allergic to peanuts, it makes me very sad for them.

Yikes. That's scary. We left Cole with a sitter a few months ago, and when we picked him up he was polishing off a PB&J. We had never given him one before, so we were in a similar boat, but much less concerning than your situation.
Glad it worked out. BTW...email me @ ben4rest[at]gmail.com and we'll catch up.
