Our littlest firecracker fizzled out well before 7:00 this evening so I took one for the team and stayed in so Phillip and Ellen could enjoy fireworks and homemade ice cream at church (thankfully the weather cooperated). The dogs are keeping me company but they do not, I repeat, do not like fireworks! (George is not happy, poor guy.)
We had a good day despite the rain (it rained steadily all day long). We piddled around the house this morning, arrived at Matt and Sara Jo's around 11:00, ate a late lunch with them at Old Chicago pizza, ran a quick errand and then headed home for a few hours of down time before dinner - Ellen and Lilly played, Phillip took a nap on the couch and I made a delicious squash casserole.
One thing we did not do was change Lilly's diaper. Maybe because:
1. We changed her first thing this morning and then twice more before leaving the house (she's a pooper)
2. She took a long nap in the car. She slept the whole time we were at the Moss's (Phillip stayed with her)
3. She basically went from carseat, to one of us holding her while we waited for our table, to highchair, and then back to the carseat
4. We came home, fed the dogs and then got busy doing this and that
5. She never asked us to
Whatever the reason, I feel terrible. Afterwards I could tell she was really uncomfortable. Her bottom is red and chapped (so is one of her legs) and it is all my fault.
I am trying to let it go. Thanks for listening.
I will leave you with this picture of Ellen, taken right after she rang Cole and Savannah's doorbell. She was so excited to see them and it shows.
Happy 4th of July!
