It should have been the best day ever

Day 3 of our 3-day weekend started out with a little girl coming into our room complaining her stomach hurt.  She tossed and turned for about an hour before getting sick.

Happy Easter.

Ellen did not feel well enough to check under her pillow to see what the Tooth Fairy left behind (she lost her first tooth yesterday) and sadly, she did not even ask about her Easter basket, where it was or what was in it.

Under normal circumstances she definitely would have been excited about the Tooth Fairy and Easter Bunny coming to our house.  (And both on the same night... even better!)

Lilly and I went to church on our own this morning.  Needless to say, no cute Easter pictures or around the house egg hunts.

Rewind to Saturday...

Notice anything missing?
I do exist

We really did have fun Friday and Saturday (lots of fun) and Lilly had a great day today.  I just wish Ellen had felt well enough to enjoy Easter/Tooth Fairy Sunday.

Go big or go home

Ellen's plan for us today (as told to Phillip yesterday morning):  go to the park, get 3 doughnuts (one for each of us plus one to share), go see a movie and lastly, go shopping at the mall.

She knows me so well.  Sounds like a typical Saturday before having kids, besides the whole park thing.

Instead we played at home, went to Target and then met Phillip and the Easter Bunny for lunch at Chick-fil-A.

And we ran into some friends.

Not bad for a dreary Good Friday :)

Lotion, Spring Break and any Duke loss. All scams in my book.

I bought body lotion thinking it was body wash.

A few facts:

1.  We are not lotion people
2.  I never buy lotion
3.  I needed body wash

I figured out my mistake this morning when the sizable amount of "body wash" I squeezed onto my loofah did not lather up as I washed my neck, chest and arms.  At all.  I tried again, using even more the second time.  Hmmm.  I took a closer look at the bottle.  Lotion?!  What?!  Inconceivable.  Although my skin is extra soft today.

In other news, this is Ellen's Spring Break and it's snowing!  It's not supposed to snow during Spring Break, is it?  Weather aside, due to poor planning on our part, including failed travel plans and work-related issues, she is at school this week with the other forgotten children (that's the hurt talking).  As I told my mom yesterday, I feel bad.  I really do.  I am off Good Friday since SACC is closed as well as daycare, but it still seems wrong.  This won't happen again - one or two days of childcare, maybe - but not the majority of her break.

On second thought, she has been making comments about my weight lately.  SEND HER TO SCHOOL!

Moving on to the men's NCAA Tournament, which is never a scam unless Duke loses in the first round to Lehigh, effectively ending the tournament in the eyes of one Phillip McCullough.  Only two ACC teams remain - NC State lost in the first round and UNC lost in the second round but Duke and Miami made it to the Sweet Sixteen.  Duke plays again on Friday.

Win it for my baby who is not having any fun on her Spring Break!

Easter Egg Hunt at Evans Park

Ellen and I went to Evans Park yesterday for an Easter Egg Hunt and tons of other activities.  The weather wasn't the greatest, it got progressively colder as the day went on and it was really windy, but we had a good time.  I hate that Lilly missed out on the fun - they had a big section specifically for children 2 and under - but she was home taking a nap.

Waiting for the egg hunt to begin
(the first group was for kids 5 and under)
It all happened so fast - most of my pictures are of her bottom :)
Checking to see if she got a prize egg (she didn't)
She had to settle for candy :)
Coloring a picture for residents at a local assisted living.  She also made a card for the Spring Hill Police Department.

Petting zoo (not pictured: persistant goats!)

Face painting

Ellen played on the playground after the older kids finished their egg hunt

Ellen also had fun jumping in the bounce house.

Already looking forward to next year!

In the midst of March Madness

Lilly has been signing up a storm and it is the cutest thing ever!  (One of many advantages to her still being in a baby room at daycare... we love Ms. Medley!)  She knows the signs for eat, milk, pacifier, more and all done.

She likes to rock in the little white rocking chair in her room (the one Grandpa and Nana gave Ellen a few years ago).

Current favorite vegetable:  peas

Lilly is walking with confidence.  She is all over the place and very pleased to be so :)

Lilly has the best laugh!

Ellen plays with My Little Pony more than anything else these days (and it reminds me of how I used to play when I was a kid).

The Tooth Fairy better get ready because it won't be too much longer before Ellen loses her first tooth!

Current favorite activity at gymnastics:  the bars

Ellen is the kind of girl who says "I wish this day would never end" and means it.

Me:  Mommy knows everything (in a semi-evil voice)
Ellen:  You don't know everything the internet knows
