Seabrook Island 2012

Since my last post, I ended up getting the horrible stomach virus Phillip and Ellen had and after a long week of not feeling well and a bad weekend (for various reasons), the girls and I hopped on an airplane, gladly escaping the scorching Tennessee heat, and flew to Charleston, South Carolina for a much needed vacation (Phillip was not able to join us this year which was heavy on my heart all week).  My family picked us up from the airport (they arrived the day before), we ate lunch at a local burger joint, and then headed to our home away from home for the next six days on beautiful Seabrook Island (located next to Kiawah Island).  Despite not feeling all that great at the beginning, this turned out to be one of my favorite family vacations.  The kids are at great ages (Ashling is 6, Ellen is 4, Cade is 2) and having Lilly there (almost 6 months old) seemed to make everything complete.  And it will just keep getting better and better as we will have one more family member joining us next year.  Andrea is due August 27th (she's having a boy, to be named later).  Every trip is an adventure and this one did not disappoint!

Here is a peak at our first few days at Seabrook:

From one of the pools you could lay out on the beach but no access to the water.  Just sand and a view of the ocean (sounds included).
