Tidbits
I painted my nails bright pink over the weekend. I feel like a different person (I paint my nails maybe once a year and never such an eye-catching color). It hasn't solved all of my problems like I had hoped it would but it has stopped me from biting.
We are heading out of town again in a few days. There is no place like home!
Ellen had Mud Day at school yesterday. Ellen's teacher said she was hesitant at first but she eventually joined in on the dirty fun. I am fine with her playing in and with mud as long as it isn't on my watch.
The last few weeks have been rough. One blow after another, or so it seems (mostly work related). I am just trying to keep my chin up and think good thoughts.
Today is Whitt's Wednesday. I am so there (we are so there).
The cicadas are here and they are making their presence known. Buzz.
Ellen is curious, smart, creative, loving, happy, energetic... she is pretty amazing.
I watched two episodes of The Judd's reality show on Sunday afternoon while the rest of the family went to the pool. Viewing quality television is my highest priority.
Ashling will be 5 on Saturday. Hard to believe! Where does the time go?
Our checkout guy at Food City in Fairfield Glade said/asked, "You aren't from around here are you?". Observation? Judgement? Compliment? I need to know.
"Mommy, I need some chocolate." - Ellen, on the way home from school one day this week

Fairfield Glade, TN
Our condo
Ellen with Granddaddy and Grandmother
Dad playing Angry Birds while Ellen writes/draws
Ellen loved this huge bath tub
And this phone - she made several important calls throughout the weekend
Hard at work (she was a busy bee)
A few of her writings
The indoor pool was a big hit
Ellen could have swam all day every day
Phillip and I ate dinner at Big Boy's on Saturday (we ate there last time we were here-about 3 years ago). Afterwards we saw the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Nothing better than a night out with my sweetie!
He loves it when I take pictures of him while he is eating... in public... with other people sitting around us
Yeah, we ate a pint of banana pudding
Checkers at Cracker Barrel
We had a fun weekend with my parents... thanks for everything Mom and Dad. And special thanks to Laurie for taking care of George and Lucy while we were away.

Happenings this week
Monday:
To answer my own question, I apparently do no like a big hunk of meat wrapped in bacon. We made Pioneer Woman's meatloaf and I liked the overall flavor (the sauce was excellent!) but neither of us cared for how the bacon turned out. It was raw and rubbery and probably not how it was supposed to be - we even cooked it a lot longer than the recipe called for but it never really cooked. I love bacon but next time around we will not be wrapping our meatloaf with it!
We watched Black Swan... I saw it in the theater a few months ago but this was Phillip's first time. He was not a fan. He didn't even watch the whole movie. Boo.
Wednesday:
I got up and got ready for work as usual but I wasn't feeling all that great. Around 6:00 I started having pain in my lower abdomen. By 6:30 I was seriously hurting. The pressure in my side and bladder was unbearable. I was so uncomfortable that I couldn't sit down or lay down... all I could do was pace around the house and cry. To make matters worse, I threw up a few times and I hate throwing up. In the midst of all the craziness, I called my Dad, Sara Jo, Kristy (my supervisor and a good friend) and my doctor. I think that is all :) Phillip dropped Ellen off at daycare and then came back to pick me up and take me to the doctor. With morning rush hour traffic it took us an hour to get to West End and I seriously thought we would never make it! I immediately had an ultrasound and it turns out I have/had a cyst on my left ovary (Dr. Barnett compared it to a bleeding bruise). Besides having to deal with some pain, I should be good as new in a few days.
Thursday:
I went to work but I should have stayed home (unfortunately I have no vacation time). I was still very sore and the pressure in my bladder was pretty strong, which is an overall horrible feeling. The upside: I felt so much better than I did on Wednesday.
Friday:
TGIF! We are heading on a mini-vacation with my parents. It's just for the weekend but it couldn't have come at a better time. We will have loads of fun. I am planning on relaxing as much as possible.

A day for foul moods
Phillip and Ellen are both very grouchy today. It is not fun for me. I am finally feeling better and those two are bringing me down. Good thing Phillip has a movie date planned with Laurie (Thor) and it is almost Ellen's naptime (she is watching Max & Ruby right now). Maybe we can start over when we meet up later this afternoon. We need to go to the grocery store and I refuse to take anyone who might cause a scene. This is also a day for cleaning and laundry. I did a lot on Sunday after our company left but there is always something to do around here. Always.
I have a few new meals planned for this week and I am actually excited about cooking (well, as excited as I can be about cooking). We are going to try Pioneer Woman's meatloaf and creamy mashed potatoes. Who doesn't love a huge hunk of meat wrapped in bacon? Anyone?
We have trips planned for the next couple of weekends and then again in June. I am looking forward to getting away. I like being home but there is nothing better than having the opportunity to see my family (and do fun things with them). We missed Ashling's birthday party last year and I am so glad we will be there this year to celebrate with her as she turns 5.
I am still waiting to hear back about an opportunity that I feel would be great for me and in return be beneficial for our family as a whole. I am not the most patient person but I know God is in control of this situation, as He is all situations, and that alone gives me peace.
It is officially time for a certain someone to take a nap. I love that certain someone with all of my heart, even when she is in a bad mood. xoxo

Back in business?
It got a little worse before it got better
(not pictured: 2 trips to Lowes and our BFF Matt)
But looks can be deceiving
Although Ellen's teeny tiny bathroom is put back together, the toilet we thought was fixed is still very much out of commission (after typing "commission" I randomly thought about sins of commission and sins of omission. Coincidence? Guilty conscience?).
We had some leakage so the water is turned off again. I am at peace with our decision. It means there is one less toilet for me to clean (for now).
