This has brought music back into our lives and for that I am grateful.

You heard it here first
Ellen is officially in panties 24/7. No more pull ups at night. She has been waking up dry for several weeks now, maybe longer, but we really wanted to make sure this was a done deal before we made the switch (and we had plenty of pull ups). She now gets to choose her panties after bath time rather than in the morning. The new Disney princess and days of the week underwear she got for Christmas has made the transition even more fun for her (thanks Mom and Andrea).
New books! I got the latest releases from Sophie Kinsella and Jan Karon and I am so excited. Now I just have to decide which one to read first. I may let Ellen choose for me.
Our evenings have been taken over by Legos and/or Beauty Shop (still pronounced "booty" by one of us, and it isn't me or Phillip). Building and beautifying as a family has been lots of fun.
Winned instead of won, felled instead of fell, runned instead of ran.... just a few mispronunciations you might hear at our house. While we're on the topic, Phillip says Squinkles instead of Squinkies and it drives me crazy (Squinkies are a toy, little squishy animal/people figurines). On a totally unrelated note, I am glad Phillip doesn't have his own blog on which to share ANYTHING about me. He would never run out of material and I would have to leave the country, if I didn't die of embarrassment first.
Setting the scene: Ellen going potty, I'm looking in the bathroom mirror
Ellen: You don't look good [can she read my mind?]
Me: What?
Ellen: You don't look good [as if I didn't hear/understand her the first time]
Me: Silence
Ellen: You're still pretty though [yeah, and I bet she thinks I have a great personality too]

A new year, a new beginning
In 2010...
I mourned some personal losses
I fought change
I accepted change
I laughed a lot
I was restless
I worried a little less (but I still had a lot of freak outs)
I realized the things that make me happy are the same things that have always made me happy
I didn't read much (I wish I had)
I was humbled countless times
I went to bed angry
I complained
I learned that some people never change, myself included
I was not very focused
I was selfish
I watched some weird movies
I was loved
I discovered the french toast bagel at Panera (yum)
I had a lot of blah days
I felt lost at times
I wasn't always kind
I was impatient
This was a rough year for me personally. I hope 2011 has more ups than downs, more hits than misses.
In 2011...
I hope to be more accepting of others, easy-going, less of a control freak, nice, slower to speak, a better communicator, helpful, a good steward, healthy and an overall better wife and mother.

1/1/11
Happy New Year! We saw Tangled today (thanks for the Carmike gift certificates Nana and Grandpa!) It was Ellen's first time going to the movie theater and we couldn't have picked a better movie or had better company (we missed you Sara Jo!) Ellen sat on the edge of her seat (literally), and then eventually on Phillip's lap, intently watching the movie while munching on popcorn and sour patch kids. She did great!
Phillip was not happy about these thin, receipt-like stubs. I mean he was really upset. Matt and I had to restrain him so he wouldn't make a scene.
